DAY 2
Volcanoes Valley
Banhos Férricos (Thermal Baths)
This is your chance to relax and soak in the natural thermal baths, which are rich in therapeutic minerals. Immersing yourself in these warm, iron-rich waters offers a unique and soothing experience powered by São Miguel’s volcanic core.
Cascata da Ribeira dos Caldeirões
One of São Miguel’s most enchanting natural sites. This stunning waterfall tumbles gracefully into a pool, surrounded by lush, vibrant green vegetation typical of the Azores. The area is also home to charming, historic watermills and offers a picturesque setting perfect for photography and a peaceful moment of contemplation.
Gorreana Tea Factory
You will discover the tradition and unique taste of Gorreana, which is the only tea produced in Europe. This factory offers a fascinating look at the cultivation and processing of tea on the island, a practice dating back nearly two centuries.
Caldeiras (Fumaroles)
You will explore the dramatic fumaroles and witness the power of volcanic activity up close. This area showcases bubbling mud pots and steaming vents, providing a vivid reminder of the geological forces that created the island.
DAY 3
Green Valley
Boca do Inferno Viewpoint
Widely regarded as one of the island’s most iconic spots, this viewpoint offers breathtaking, panoramic views over the massive volcanic crater. From here, you can gaze down at the stunning Sete Cidades lakes and the surrounding lush caldera rim.
Lagoa das Sete Cidades
You will explore one of the Azores’ most famous natural wonders, known for its striking blue and green twin lakes. Local legend attributes the colors to the tears of a shepherd and a princess who fell in forbidden love.
Ponta da Ferraria
You will discover this unique spot where the ocean meets naturally warm thermal waters. Depending on the tide, you can swim in the open sea where the water temperature is elevated by geothermal activity right next to the shore.
